The Lambs took time off from bell ringing this Christmas season, to do a little shopping and celebrating of their own at a German Christmas Market. They had some Lebkuchen (a type of soft gingerbread cookie) and hot cocoa. They bought each other some nice German crafted gifts and some wooden toys for the Animal Humane Society’s Angel Tree.
6 Days Til Christmas!
“These costumes are cool.” Ducky said on their way to school, “but why are we all dressed up?”
“I know, I know” said Blizzard. “Today we are celebrating Thanksgiving.”
“Thanksgiving!” Ted said. “What’s that?”
“Just wait” Pembleton said. “Mrs. Cottontail, our teacher, will explain everything.”
Thanksgiving Celebration: Part 1
Tip # 3
Networking is the key to a successful business!
Ducky makes most of his business deals through his relationships with other animals. For example, Ducky was introduced to Christmas Koala by the Lambs, and when Ducky was in India searching for the perfect rice pudding (The Quest for the Perfect Kheer) he was able to convince the baby elephant to give him a ride because the baby elephant also knew Christmas Koala. Pembleton introduced Ducky to Potbelly Phil (a decision which Pembleton still regrets), and Potbelly Phil was the animal that called in a request to rescue the racoons from a tree during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
Every animal Ducky meets is a potential business customer, and the more happy customers that Ducky has, the more animals will come to him for future business. That is why networking is the key to a successful business.
This Halloween picking out the right costume wasn’t easy. There were so many good ones to choose from. But once the gang knew what they wanted, it was unanimous. Ducky would be Mr. Incredible. Ted and Blizzard both wanted to be Dash. And Pembleton wanted to be Frozone.
We hope every one has a safe and fun Halloween.

Captain Ducky and his crew set off on an interstellar voyage for the perfect snack. They vowed to “boldly go where no animal has gone before.” When they reached the planet Lambeus, they encountered two strange creatures. The creatures were making something that smelled similar to chocolate chip cookies. Due to the principle of non intervention, Captain Ducky suggested they take the cookies when the aliens (the Lambs) are not looking and to high tail it out of there. Pembleton agreed, stating “it is the logical thing to do.” They beamed Cadet Ted and Cadet Blizzard to the location of the cookies to retrieve them quickly, before the aliens noticed. They were safely beamed back to the ship. Before eating, Pembleton preformed a complete scan to ensure the cookies were safe. Once it was complete, they enjoyed their snack time.

Tip # 2
Beware Traveling Sales Koalas!
Ducky’s first tip, being cute, can sometimes mean trouble when trying to buy wholesale items. Ducky has fallen victim to Traveling Sales Koalas, several times. They are so cute and their offers are too good to be true.
For example, Ducky loves Sister Shubert rolls. Christmas Koala (as seen in the picture above) offered him a great deal on Brother Shubert rolls. When Ducky got them in the mail, they were stinky old sushi rolls! Pembleton would not let Ducky sell the Brother Shubert rolls because of the animal health code.
Another time, Ducky bought a year’s supply of chocolate milk mix only to find out they were made with a fake chocolate called carob. YUCK! Ducky’s customers only like the real stuff.
Then there was the time that Ducky thought he was purchasing the real Eifel Tower in Paris, but then one week later he received a 3 inch miniature in the mail. After all of those horrible purchases, Pembleton warned Ducky not to buy stuff from traveling sales Koalas, but the power of cuteness is hard to resist, especially from those wearing Christmas sweaters.
This weekend, Ducky, Pembleton, Ted, and Blizzard flew up to Vermont to enjoy the last days of the fall berries. Pembleton came up with the idea to pick some blueberries and bring them home so that the Lambs could make a blueberry pie.
When they got to Vermont, they met some of the local animals and asked them where they could find the best blueberry patch. A porcupine told them about a human farm, but Pembleton said they would have to pay the farmer, and Ducky didn’t have any money. Plus, they prefer wild blueberries because they are sweeter. Then they met a black bear cub who told them about a patch of never ending blueberry bushes in a field between two small mountains. After several hours of hiking, they finally reached the BEST BLUEBERRY PATCH IN THE WORLD!
Somehow only Pembleton managed to collect blueberries for the pie, while Ducky and the Lil’ Guys got a belly ache from eating so many blueberries. Blizzard was practically all purple from blueberry juice. They had a great day.

With Halloween only 12 days away, Ducky and the gang are already in the holiday spirit. Last night they decided to watch one of their favorite Halloween movies, Casper the Friendly Ghost. Earlier that day, Ducky had to take a physical education test where he had to run, do jumping jacks, and somersaults. Ducky was quite exhausted and was heavy eyed during the movie. Before he knew it, he was snoozing.
In his dream, he saw four super cute ghosts in front of a large house. The first one who was quite round said “I’m hungry.” The second ghost, who was tall and thin, said “Tonight is a great night to use my telescope. Look at how full the moon is.” The two little ghosts just giggled and waved as they chased each other. When Ducky woke up, he wondered why the ghost from his dream were so familiar, but then he realized he was hungry. So he went and got a snack.

A Rocket is a vehicle that is shot up into the air using explosive gases. They can be simple or complex, depending on its use. While rockets can be used as a weapon, Pembleton prefers to study rockets that are used for space exploration.
Pembleton, Ducky and the rest of the gang are HUGE fans of NASA’s Johnson Space Center. They enjoy looking at the rocket ships and learning about space. However, Pembleton has to keep a close eye on Ducky, because he doesn’t like to just look- he likes to RIDE!
Until Next Time, Pembleton wants you to KEEP BEING CURIOUS!
Pembleton asks, “What science subject would you like me to explain next?” Please leave in the comment section below.
The other night, the Humans went to an Indian restaurant for dinner. They brought the boys back some Kheer (Indian rice pudding). The rice pudding was the best rice pudding Ducky had ever tasted. He wanted more. He thought about how he could find the perfect rice pudding. After a few minutes, he had a plan. He would go to India, and find a Kheer Guru. But first, he had to convinced Pembleton to drop him and the lil’ guys off in India.
Shortly after they arrived in India, they found a baby elephant who knew a Kheer Guru. The guru lived on the other side of the jungle. The baby elephant, with permission from his mom, offered to give Ducky and the lil’ guys a ride, but only if he could have some pudding too.
Once they got to the other side of the jungle, they were at the Kheer Guru’s house. They knocked on the door. When the Guru answered, they were greeted with the sweet smell of amazing rice pudding. The Guru let them in and taught them all the secrets to making the perfect rice pudding. The best part was eating bowls and bowls of pudding.

The other day, Ted and Blizzard were sitting out in the yard passing a ball back and forth. While they were playing Ted said to Blizzard, “My dad is the best bear in the world!” Blizzard thought about this for a second and then said, “that isn’t possible, because my dad is the best bear in the world!”
Who do you think is the best bear?

Every year around this time, the gang goes out to find their pumpkin friend named Jack. This weekend they found him! Ducky, Pembleton and the rest of the gang are so excited to have Jack back.
Jack has not been carved yet, but they all have their thinking caps on and are coming up with ideas. How do you think Jack should be carved?
(Leave your ideas in the comment box!)
Here are some pictures from last year. They went with the traditional look.
- Jack 2011
- We are both round!
- I like this hat.

One night while sleeping, Ducky heard a noise. He noticed a dim glow from the kitchen. Someone was looking in the fridge. He woke Pembleton up and told him he saw a light in the kitchen. Pembleton looked over, saw nothing, and told Ducky go back to sleep. Ducky was sure he saw something. Then he heard crunching noises coming from the living room and whispers of his favorite sitcom on TV. He woke Pembleton up again. This time Pembleton was super grumpy, heard nothing, and told Ducky he better go back to sleep.
The next morning, Pembleton went to get his favorite morning treat- Raisin Bran, but there were only crumbs inside. Pembleton knew Ducky didn’t eat his cereal, because Ducky hates Raisin Bran. Then Pembleton heard a whimper. Someone had eaten Ducky’s favorite cereal too! In the living room, they noticed the pillows and blanket on the couch were rumpled.
Convinced someone must have snuck into the house the night before, the boys came up with a plan. Pembleton got a cardboard box and cut out an eye hole for their stakeout. They would stay up all night, to catch the cereal thief.
Later that night, while Ducky was snoozing in the box, Pembleton, struggling to stay away, heard a noise. He poked Ducky, “Shh, be quite Ducky, someone is in the house.” They both stood very still and looked out the peep hole. Then they saw the intruder, a fat little rat wearing a green felt hat with a feather. They tip toed their box closer, before jumping out and wrestling the intruder to the ground.
“Who are you? And why did you take our food?” shouted Ducky.
“I mean no harm. Please don’t hurt me”, whimpered the little rat.
“We won’t hurt you, but who are you?” Pembleton said trying to calm the little guy.
“My name is Rumpelstiltskin, and I’m just a lonely, hungry mouse.”
“A mouse?” Ducky and Pembleton said skeptically in unison.
“Yes, a mouse, without a house or food or family! I like coming to your cozy house, because you have good snacks and cable.”
“You know you didn’t have to sneak in.” Pembleton said. “All you had to do was ask.”
“Really?”
“Really” said Ducky. “But we need to know, so we have enough snacks for everyone.”
From then on, Rumpelstiltskin came to visit every night and Ducky and Rumpelstiltskin became fast friends often making mischief together. Pembleton, was a little slower to warm up to the “mouse” in their house, but eventually he became friends too.
