"Don't let them get away!"

“Don’t let them get away!”

Once freed from the ropes, Ducky and Pembleton quickly ran to where the dinos were being held captive.

“Hurry, we have to catch Professor Plumbottom and the Cat Pirates. We can’t let them take Xanadu!” Pembleton shouted.

“Don’t worry, Pembleton. I won’t let them get away!” Ducky said as he mounted his dino buddy. “We will stop him.”

Ducky and his dino buddy charged down the pier. Ducky shouted, “Tally Ho!” as they jumped off the pier and into the water.

The Cat Pirates were already in their hot air balloon. Captain One Mitten, always ready for the escape. But the Professor, who was old and portly, struggled to get in to the balloon as it slowly drifted away.

“Not so fast, Professor. You’re not going anywhere!” Ducky said as his dino buddy grabbed his robe.

“Help Captain One Mitten,” the Professor cried.

“Sorry, but I need to live to tell another tale,” he said as he pried his fingers off the basket. “Till we meet again Ducky,” the Captain said slyly as he floated off.

“Next time,” Ducky replied unhappily as the Cat Pirates once again got away.

Ducky and Pembleton were tied up. Professor Plumbottom rubbed his grubby little paws together. “I first started hearing rumors about Xanadu years ago when the Animal Adventurer’s Society was first established, but nobody knew where it was. After years of research I narrowed down the location but there was still hundreds of miles of Himalayan mountains to search. So I hired Mr. Sloth to create a 3D scan of these mountains. Unfortunately, Mr. Sloth’s plane went down due to the strange magnetic field surrounding Xanadu.”

“Yeah, yeah, get to the point!” Ducky interrupted.

“The point is, Xanadu is gonna make me rich! Everything was going according to plan until Pembleton and his rag-tag team decided to stick there beaks where they don’t belong.”

“How is Xanadu going to make you rich?” Pembleton asked.

“I’m going to turn this place into a resort. It will be my own little Jurasic park. Animals will come from around the world to relax in the spas and get massages from T-Rexs. And the best part is I don’t have to build the village or even pay for the labor. I will force the dinos to work for free.”

“You’re evil”, Pembleton yelled. “When the Animal Adventurer’s Society hears about what you’ve done they won’t stand for it!”

“Who cares about the Animal Adventure’s Society. I have more pressing matters to attend to. Captain One Mitten, take the T-Rexs to their new cages.” Professor Plumbottom ordered and promptly left.

After enjoying a nice glass of lemonade, Ducky and Pembleton decided to get a massage too. They figured they might as well, since they weren’t in any rush and no one was in danger. “Man, those little T-Rex arms give an amazing massage,” Ducky sighed.

Then, half way through their massage, they heard a loud commotion. Suddenly, Professor Plumbottom, busted into the room and shouted, “Everybody get your hands up. No sudden moves. Even you T-Rexs. Oh, I didn’t see your little arms already in the air.”

“Hey! Don’t insult our friends,” Ducky replied, “And what are you doing here? Why are the Cat Pirates with you?”

Inside.

Once inside the look-out asked, “So what do they call yas?”

Pembleton was caught off gaurd, but Ducky quickly replied, “I’m Cheeseball, here’s my buddy Mousetrap,” pointing to Conrad, “And this is my other buddy Heathcliff McGee,” pointing to Pembleton.

“Umm…nice names. Come on in, were are preparing to load up the ship”, he said while leading them through the cannery.

“Quick we need a distraction,” Pembleton whispered.

“No, problem.” Ducky answered with a wink.

When they reached the other cats, Pembleton and Ducky saw it was in fact the sinister Captain One Mitten leading this dastardly endeavor. The cat pirates had almost finished loading up the boxes and would soon be shipping out to sea. Ducky hollered at the top of his lungs, “Such a treasure calls for a great piraty celebration!” and he began to sing “ninety-nine bottles of milk on the wall.” All the cats joined in, including Captain One Mitten.

While the other cats were distracted, Pembleton snuck over to the corner and found Abigail’s father tied up next to the robot. The robot was sad because Captain One Mitten had not only taken the crown he had stolen, but also the gold metal he had won during Robofest. Even worse, Abigail’s father was disappointed in him for participating in Captain One Mitten’s evil plan.

Pembleton untied Abigail’s dad and they snuck towards the front door. Pembleton tried to get Ducky’s and Conrad’s attention, but they were too carried away singing and merry making.  As Pembleton tried to get their attention, one of the pirates accidently stepped on Ducky’s tail, which then detached. First the pirate was horrified that he had so easily hurt Cheeseball. But then realized as Ducky continued to sing, that Cheeseball and his friends were in fact intruders and began to shout, “Intruders!”

Undercover.

When Ducky, Pembleton, and Conrad finally caught up with the robot, Ducky was surprised to find they were back at the docks. They watched as the robot knocked on the door of the tuna fish cannery. The door opened and the robot slipped inside.

“What are we waiting for? Let’s go in and arrest the perpetrators!”, Ducky exclaimed.

“Wait!”, Conrad advised. “There are too many cats in that factory. We need to wait here and call for backup.”

“There’s no time”, Pembleton said. “Once the cat pirates get the crown they will immediately load it onto a ship and smuggle it out of the country along with Abigail’s father. Luckily, I have a plan to get inside, rescue Abigail’s father, get the jewels, and get out before the cats suspect anything.”

“What’s your plan?” Ducky asked.

“Disguises.” Pembleton said.

“Disguises?” Ducky asked. “Wait! I got some cat costumes in my bag. Three actually.”

“I know.” Pembleton said.

They quickly put on the costumes and headed to the cat’s hideout. Nervously Ducky knocked on the door. “Who goes there?” a cat pirate asked through a peep hole.

“Umm… we’re the new crew.” Ducky nervously spit out.

“New crew?” The cat pirate scratched his head. “Uhh… okay. Umm… So what is the password?”

Pembleton nervously scratched his head trying to think, then let out a “Meow” to stall for time.

“Purr-fect. Come on in, the party is just getting started,” the door keeper said. Then he asked Conrad, “Hey, you’re looking pretty green there buddy. Did you eat some bad tuna?” Conrad nervously shook his head as they entered the pirate’s den.

“Don’t try to move!” Captain One Mitten snarled. Ducky and the gang were cornered and Captain One Mitten had a sword.

“We surrender! Don’t hurt us!” They all yelled.  Captain One Mitten then led them into the cave where Amanda Panda and Penelope Penguin were being held, along with Multilingual Mole.

“What are you going to do to us?” Pembleton asked as he, along with Ducky, Ted, and Blizzard were forced in to an empty cage.

“I, Captain One Mitten, will have my revenge. I have not forgotten about what happen on the island. You cost me my treasure. I plan on come up with something extra dastardly to do to you all. It will be the most terrible,  dreadful, fearsome, frightening, ghastly, horrendous, horrible…”

Ducky quietly whispered to Pembleton, “Don’t bad guys know once they start monologuing, the good guys always win?”

As Captain One Mitten was blowing hot air, and reciting the details of his evil plan, Ted and Blizzard slipped through the bars and tip-toed over to where Cornelius was tied up, just under Amanda and Penelope’s cage. Ted and Blizzard were able to open the satchel and retrieve the stinky boot, which they tossed to Amanda.

Amanda first was disgusted by the revolting odor, but then she knew what she needed to do. Captain One Mitten was still monologuing about how once he got Multilingual Mole to figure out how to open the door to his riches, he was going to do “the most appalling, atrocious, awful, monstrous, gris-” That was when Amanda chucked the stinky boot and smacked him across the noggin.

They all froze, as Captain One Mitten teetered and tottered back and forth while trying to finish his monologue. Then he fell to the ground with a loud ‘thud’.

“Wow, I’m surprised we can’t see birds flying around his head. Good aim, Amanda!” Ducky said with a little awe in his voice.

“I know.” Amanda said proudly.

“Pembleton, what would we have done, if I didn’t pack that stinky boot?” Ducky asked as Ted and Blizzard released them from their cage, but Pembleton acted as if he didn’t hear him. Soon everyone was released. Then Ducky and Pembleton dragged the Captain into the now empty cage and told Egor to get into the cage too.

“Okay, now lets get out of here!” Amanda firmly stated.

“Wait!” Multilingual Mole shouted. “We can’t leave the mystery unsolved. We have come all this way and this mystery has laid uncovered for hundreds of years. The ancient test reads ONLY THE FAINT OF HEART WILL BE ABLE TO UNCOVER BEARISTOTLE’S GOLDEN TREASURE THAT LAY BEYOND THIS DOOR. Now I need to see the girls pendents to figure out how to unlock the door.”

Reluctantly, Amanda and Penelope, who had retrieved their pendents from Captain One Mitten, handed them over to Multilingual Mole.

Their boat was stuck in a sandbar and Pembleton felt like something fishy was going on because every attempt to radio for help was being jammed. The only thing they could do is take their life raft to the nearby island and search for help.

Once Ducky, Pembleton, Ted, and Blizzard made it to shore, they decided to explore the island. But Ducky insisted that they all stick together and Pembleton reminded them to walk quietly.

It didn’t take long for them to discover what was going on. Ducky and Pembleton heard rough voices through the dense jungle foliage. They carefully peeked through the bushes only to find CAT PIRATES!

“That explains it”, said Pembleton. “The pirates must be jamming our radio and they probably put that sandbar near the island to trap boats like ours.”

Ducky said, “Why does it have to be CATS? I hate CATS!”

“Except for kittens”, Ted reminded him.

As they listened to the cat pirates, they found out that their leader, Captain One Mitten, was aware of their boat. He had sent his first mate to check on the boat, but he returned saying that no one was on the ship and there was no treasure – only a few sandwiches. Both pirates agreed that they were hungry and went down to the boat to eat Ducky, Pembleton, and the little guys’ sandwiches.

Meanwhile, Ducky said, “Now’s our chance to find out what they are doing here.” Pembleton added, “Maybe we can disable their radio jammer.”
