Pembleton woke everyone up early this morning and said, “We’re going on a hike.” Pembleton had already packed their backpacks with sandwiches, water, a map, and a compass. They spent the whole day going up hills, going down hills, over fields, and under thick forests. What a fun way to spend the day!
Today, Ducky and the gang had a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizza (TMNT) Party. Wow! It was awesome! There was pizza and they dressed up like their favorite Ninja Turtles. Ducky originally wanted to have the party in the sewers, but luckily, Pembleton talked him out of it.
Ducky has a lot of friends. So many friends that it can be hard to keep track of all of them. In Ducky’s character profiles, we will be introducing some old and new friends, as well as, fun facts about them. We hope you enjoy.
Name: Rudolph & Gretchen Lamb
From: Bavaria, Germany
Profession: Handy Man & Nanny
Relation to Ducky: Mr. & Mrs. Lamb help to take care of Ducky and the gang. When they are not getting Ducky out of trouble, they are trying to keep him out of trouble. On their day’s off, they like to relax next to a refreshing mountain lake. Occasionally Mr. Lamb will hike to the top of the mountain to pick edelweiss for Mrs. Lamb.
Favorite Food: Pretzels and Sauerkraut
Fun Fact: Mr. & Mrs. Lamb love to watch the panda cam at the National Zoo. They are often involved in fundraising events to support the Smithsonian.
“Ladies and Gentlemen! I give you the Grubby Lil’ Paws!”
That’s what the announcer said when he introduced Ducky’s new band at a local music festival. Ducky is the singer, Banjo Bear plucks the banjo, Rusty the raccoon plays the jugs, Franky the elephant toots the harmonica, and Stink the skunk is always up for a DRUM SOLO! The performance went so well, they had to play an encore of “Empty Cookie Jar Blues”.

Pineapples
Pineapple is one of Pembleton’s (and Ducky’s) favorite fruits. Pineapples are juicy and delicious, but recently when Pembleton was eating some pineapple he wondered about where they came from. With a little research he discovered many interesting things. For example, pineapples are originally from the American tropics, however they are now grown in Asia and Africa. Also, pineapples are a great source of Vitamin C, but they also contain chemicals that make it difficult to use them in Jello.
KEEP BEING CURIOUS!
This morning, Ducky and the gang remembered the men and women who served in the US armed forces by visiting a Memorial Day parade.
After the parade, they went to a park. Ducky and the Lil’ Guys threw a football back and forth, while Pembleton roasted some corn on the cob. After lunch, Pembleton taught everyone how to do somersaults on the grass. It was a good day!
Tip #6: A Penny Saved is a Penny Earned.
For Christmas, Ducky got a new piggy bank. He has been trying his hardest to save his money. However, this is a tough tip for Ducky to follow, because there is a corner store near our home that sales penny candy! He just loves penny candy, but he is resisting and so far he has saved $0.42! That is the most money Ducky has ever saved! His goal is $10 so we can buy a Star Wars Lego set to put on his Lemonade stand. He thinks it will help attract customers.
Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, it is Ducky and the Gang’s favorite time of year! One of their favorite Christmas traditions is caroling, so today the gang decided to stroll around the park singing cheery songs to celebrate the season.
Favorite Carols!
Ducky’s: Jingle Bell Rock!
Ted’s: Little Drummer Boy
Pembleton’s: Silent Night
Blizzard’s: Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer
In Canada, maple syrup is everywhere. While eating breakfast, Ducky asked “Where does this stuff come from?” As he poured a little more on to his pancakes. “I love maple syrup.”
Pembleton excitedly ran to his office, grabbed his earth science book, and brought it back to the table. He opened the book and searched through the pages until he found a page with a brightly colored tree. He pointed at the tree and said, “That is where maple syrup comes from”.
Ducky looked at Pembleton cross-eyed and said, “What?! How can maple syrup come from a tree? I don’t see any fruits on that tree.”
“It doesn’t come from fruit, silly.” Pembleton replied. “It comes from the sap. Look here. Farmers have to tap the trees and harvest gallons and gallons of sap. 40 gallons to be precise. Then they have to boil it down until there is only one gallon left and that becomes yummy syrup. Then they bottle it and ship it to the store.”
“Why do they boil it? It seems like such a waste.” Ducky said.
“Well the sap isn’t very good on it’s own. In order to get the great taste we all know and love, it needs to be concentrated. That’s why they boil it.” Pembleton said matter of factly.
“Oh, okay.” Ducky just nodded his head. “So who makes better maple syrup? Canadians, New Yorkers or Vermonters?”
“Ducky that is an argument you do not want to get involved with. Just enjoy whatever maple syrup you have in front of you.” Pembleton recommended.
One thing Ducky and the gang have learned since being in Montreal is that it is COLD! While Ted, Blizzard, and Pembleton are enjoying the colder weather, Ducky is having a hard time staying warm. At first he tried a nice mug of hot cocoa, but that doesn’t last very long. Then he tried a blankie, but that only gets in the way when playing with his toys. So Pembleton had the idea of getting some cool new PJs from Mr. Moose’ Canadian Comfort store that would keep them warm, but also stylish. Ducky chose the dino pattern, while Pembleton went with the space pattern. Ted and Blizzard’s fur kept them warm enough, and decided PJs would make them too warm.
While their new PJs keep them nice and warm, they still enjoy a nice cup of hot cocoa and a blankie while cuddling up on the couch. Even Ted and Blizzard.
(*Dear readers, sorry we have not been posting regularly. We have had lots of family visiting and have been traveling a lot. we hope to be posting more regularly soon.)

Pembleton wants to remind everyone to be extra safe on Halloween.
Here is a great website to help families stay safe and healthy on Halloween!
With the start of the new school year, Ducky decided to start a new club at school. Every Monday at lunch time members of his new club- The Pooh Bear Society, would meet. Club members wear red shirts at meetings, and eat their lunch from honey pots, that sometimes contains honey. Afterwards, they play pooh sticks and other fun games until it’s time to go back to class. Ducky says, Mondays used to be the worst day of the week, but now it’s one of his favorites!
Ducky and friends have been doing quite a bit of traveling lately. Their lastest adventure was Italia! They visited Florence, Pisa, Cinque Terra, and ROMA! While in Rome, Ducky got into some trouble at the Vatican after he made a minor improvement to some of their artwork.

Tip # 5
Always pay the Bills on time.
This tip seems obvious, but if your business is booming, like Ducky’s and your having fun- you might let it slip your mind. One time Ducky forgot to pay the Bills and they were really angry! So mark your calendars and set a Google reminder! Because no one wants the Bills to show up uninvited.
Ducky and the gang love to camp! Every summer they go out into the wilderness with their animal buddies and spend a couple of days enjoying nature.
Pembleton is in charge of safety and packing the tent. While Ducky is in charge of the camp fire and meals. Ducky takes his job very seriously. He makes sure they have hot cocoa and smores every night and oatmeal for breakfast.
After breakfast, Pembleton taught Ted and Blizzard how to properly put out a camp fire, which is very important before leaving a camp site. Then, they hit the trails.
