Did you know you can ski in Israel? When Pembleton found out Mt. Hermon had snow and a ski resort, he couldn’t wait to take Ted and Blizzard on their first skiing adventure. Who would have known it would be in Israel?
Even though it was Ted and Blizzard’s first time skiing, they caught on very quickly. Pembleton instructed them on some basic techniques: to go forward keep your skis straight like french fries, to slow down and stop wedge your skis like a slice of pizza and to turn move your hips slightly in the direction you want to go. By the end of the end of the day, the little guys had skiing the bunny slope mastered. Ducky on the other hand, had some problems.
The conclusion:
The Ducky Express was hopelessly trapped in a pile of snow, but Ducky needed to get the blankets and supplies to the animals of the North East. To make matters worse, Ducky was starting to get really cold!
Ducky called Pembleton and asked him what he should do? Pembleton told Ducky to stay where he was and that he was on his way. Just as Ducky was beginning to lose hope, he heard a faint “Mush! Mush!” in the background. After a couple of minutes, Ducky saw Pembleton in the distance riding a dogsled. Ducky started cheering, “Hooray! Hooray!”
Using the dogsled, Ducky and Pembleton were able to load all of the supplies and carry them to the donation center where they were distributed to hundreds of animals.
The end!
Last week Mrs. Cottontail received a letter from the North East Animal Society requesting help from animals all around the United States. This winter has been very chilly and with many animals losing their homes during hurricane Sandy, they need extra help to stay warm.
Mrs. Cottontail had the little guys make signs and go door to door asking for blankets and sweaters for animals of all sizes. They received so many donations! Especially from the snow birds in Florida who didn’t need the blankets they brought with them in the fall. They received so many donations, they weren’t sure how to deliver them. Pembleton had already headed to up north to assemble a group of volunteers to help distribute the donations, so Ducky had to come up with a plan to deliver all the goods. Since Pembleton wasn’t there to tell Ducky “No”, Ducky got his train out of storage, and volunteered to take them up himself on the Ducky Express! He was on his way and this time he was going to follow the rules of the rails and not get in trouble (or so he hoped).
To be continued…
Ducky and Pembleton are enjoying the winter wonderland called New York! This weekend they went to Bear Mountain State Park to go sledding. They had so much fun racing down the hill and frolicking in the snow. Ducky was so impressed with how fast Pembleton could go on his belly and tried it himself. However, he just rolled down the hill creating a giant snowball around him. Then Ducky got his sled out. Ted and Blizzard were so excited to go sledding for the first time. They couldn’t believe how fast they went down the hill and how good Ducky was at driving the sled.
Ducky and the gang finished their East coast road trip yesterday as they drove through Washington D.C., Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and finally to New York! This was their least favorite part of the trip. They were tired and grumpy. While Pembleton, Blizzard and Ted were comfortable with the the cold temperature, Ducky was not! But now that they are in New York and have had some rest, they are ready for more adventures!
- “When did we cross over into Maryland?”
- Are you aware that we are in Delaware?
- WHAT? Where is the real sign?
- Oh! Here it is!
- I’m hungry! I want a bite of the Big Apple.
Ducky and the gang had a special visitor earlier today. While on a practice run for the big night next week, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer stopped by to say “hi”. He joined Ducky, Pembleton, Ted, and Blizzard for some reindeer games. They played leap frog, ring around the rosie, “duck, duck, Ducky” and “who can jump the highest”. They shared lots of laughs before Rudolph had to head back to the North Pole.
5 Days til Christmas!
Ducky, Pembleton, Ted and Blizzard had their first snow day of the school year yesterday. They were so excited. They had just seen Frosty the Snowman on T.V. Even though they do not have a magic hat, they still wanted to make a new winter friend.
Pembleton made the base, Ducky made the middle, and the little guys tried to make the head, but they needed a little help. Pembleton got a latter and placed the head on top. Ted added the eyes, Blizzard added a smile, Pembleton added the nose, while Ducky added the arms.
After the snowman was complete, Ducky thought it would be fun to have a SNOWBALL FIGHT! He scooped up a ball of snow and hurled it at Pembleton. It was a direct hit. Pembleton at first was shocked and then he laughed. He is the fastest snowball maker in town and within seconds he was ready for his attack. Their winter wonderland was transformed into a snowy battle.
Afterwards, they came inside to warm up by the fire and have some hot cocoa.
7 Days til Christmas!
Yesterday Ducky and Pembleton were able to complete their letters to Santa, with the help of Ted and Blizzard. While they had one more day til the deadline, they didn’t want to wait one more minute. They put on their scarves and headed to Downtown Bryan. After mailing their letters, they got cookies at the bakery, toys for the angel tree, and donated their leftover coins to the the Lambs collecting money for charity.
When they got back home, they sat in Pembleton’s office near the fire and had hot cocoa. After relaxing for a bit, Ducky exclaimed “This is going to be the best Christmas ever!”
14 more days til Christmas!
Yesterday after school, Ducky and the gang were enjoying a nice afternoon inside. Pembleton was reading a science book, while Ducky was playing with his toy truck. Ted and Blizzard were getting restless and wanted to go outside. They went to the window to make sure it wasn’t raining, because it was so overcast. When they looked out they couldn’t believe what they saw, so they had to get a closer look. So close their noses were pressed against the cold glass.
“It’s snowing Ducky, I can’t believe it,” cried Ted.
Pembleton put away his book and Ducky slid his truck under his bed, before heading to the window to investigate for themselves. Before they knew it, Blizzard had gotten their scarves out of the closet and they were headed outside to enjoy the first day of snow.
